OPM Trailblazer Maki Performs in LA for His U.S. Debut, Bringing Heartfelt Stories and Soulful Sounds

Making his U.S. debut, rising Original Pilipino Music (OPM) sensation Maki took the stage at The Vermont Hollywood alongside co-headliner Silent Sanctuary for a night that celebrated Filipino music and community. From the moment doors opened, the energy in the venue was palpable, with fans eagerly anticipating a night of connection and unforgettable performances.
Maki, known for his emotionally honest songwriting and distinct vocals, has quickly become a standout voice in OPM. With popular tracks like “Saan?” and “Dilaw,” he's earned a loyal following for his ability to capture complex emotions and turn them into something deeply personal. Being a trailblazer in the genre, his Los Angeles debut marked another major step in his growing journey.

The evening began with a strong lineup of openers, including Kevin Luna, Cimonti, JKRS, and De Soto. Each artist brought their unique sound, blending covers and original songs that quickly got the crowd warmed up, ready for what was about to happen.

As anticipation filled the room, Maki took the stage accompanied by a live band. He burst onto the stage with so much energy that it immediately drew in the crowd. Thanking fans for waiting since the early evening, he spoke to the nearly sold-out venue like he was catching up with friends and performing songs like “Kailan” and "Bakit,” showcasing not only his great stage presence but powerful vocals. Between songs, he shared stories about love, heartbreak, and burnout, offering insight into the personal moments that shaped his music, all while maintaining an easygoing charm that had the audience completely engaged.
Midway through the night, Maki performed a heartfelt cover of Burnout by Sugarfree, a moment that left the crowd in awe, as the iconic song was known by the whole audience. The energy only built from there as he moved through standout tracks like ”Saan?”, “Namumula,” and “Bughaw,” delivering each one with emotion that filled the room.

To close out his set, Maki performed fan favorite “Dilaw,” which had the entire crowd singing along word for word. He took a moment to express his gratitude, sharing how surreal it felt to be performing in Los Angeles and how thankful he was to everyone who has supported him so far. As he wrapped up his performance and made way for Silent Sanctuary, the crowd showed no signs of slowing down, clearly moved by everything he had shared.
With his heartfelt songs and undeniable presence, Maki is proving that his music has a place on global stages. This performance was a reminder of just how far he's come and all the places he's headed next.
