“Heaven (feat. Jonita) - Remix” serves as a musical bridge between continents, a delicate union of Western pop and Indian emotion. The Hindi verse, penned and performed by Jonita, beautifully extends the song’s romantic essence. It captures the feeling of finding home in a loved one’s arms, of destiny written in the stars, and the calm of being truly understood.

Jonita, who opened for Ed Sheeran’s sold-out concert in Chennai earlier this year, brings an added layer of sincerity and texture to the collaboration. Reflecting on this milestone, she shared, “I’ve been such a huge fan of Ed for as long as I can remember, so getting to collaborate with him on this version of “Heaven” feels really special. After meeting him and opening his concert in India, I was amazed by how genuine and grounded he is and how deeply he appreciates our music and culture. I think this might be his first song with Hindi lyrics, and I’m honoured to be a part of that.”

Keeping the arrangement simple and intimate, both artists allow their voices to take the lead, soft yet powerful, honest yet vulnerable. Together, they turn “Heaven - Remix” into a love song that feels both universal and deeply personal, reminding listeners of love’s resilience through all trials and tribulations.

“Whenever I'm near you, I'm in heaven

The world could separate us if we let it

But we're better than we've ever been

Never doubted we could sail through stormy weather

We went through the furnace, burned together

And clay turned into porcelain.”

Jonita’s Hindi verse builds upon this sentiment, echoing the idea of destiny and the magic of finding one’s forever person. Her voice blends seamlessly with Ed’s in the final refrain, singing falling in love all over again, creating a moment of pure musical bliss. The song feels like a gentle reminder of what love sounds like when two voices meet in harmony.

Jonita took to Instagram ahead of the release, expressing her appreciation for the collaboration. “Still feels surreal to say this out loud, I have a song coming out with @teddysphotos! I first met Ed a couple of years ago in Bombay, where I played him some of my music. That day, I was blown away by how curious and appreciative he was of Indian music and sounds. Earlier this year, I got to open for him in Chennai, which already felt like a full-circle moment. Now, to actually be on a song with him...I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s an honour I’ll hold close forever.”

She further added that she poured her emotions into the track, recording layers between flights and shows, calling it a “labour of love.”

The release also highlights Ed Sheeran’s growing creative connection with India. Following the success of Play, he has released a new EP of remixes featuring Indian artists, including Karan Aujla on “Symmetry - Remix” and Hanumankind, Dhee, and Santhosh Narayanan on “Don’t Look Down - Remix.” The “Sapphire - Remix” featuring Indian playback sensation Arijit Singh has already received a lot of love from listeners across the globe. The “Heaven - Remix” with Jonita Gandhi stands out as the first track in his discography to include Hindi lyrics, a strong indication of his appreciation of India’s diverse yet beautiful music scene.

For Jonita Gandhi, this collaboration marks another remarkable milestone in her artistic journey. With over 16 million monthly listeners across streaming platforms, Jonita continues to redefine Indian pop on the global stage. Her discography includes fan favorites like “The Breakup Song” from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, “Arabic Kuthu” from Beast, “Deva Deva” from Brahmāstra, “What Jhumka” from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and “Beparwai,” her viral independent single.

From “Gilehriyaan” in Dangal, a song that first drew attention to her sound, to Tamil hits like “Mental Manadhil” from O Kadhal Kanmani, and Telugu chart-topper “Evo Evo Kalale” from Love Story, Jonita’s versatility knows no language barrier. She has even given Indian music lovers memorable covers of timeless classics, including her rendition of Lata Mangeshkar’s “Piya Tose Naina Lage Re.”

Her recent collaborations reflect her expanding global footprint, from “Love Like That” with Ali Sethi to “Addicted” with The Chainsmokers and “Hello” with Sigala and Leigh-Anne. A Juno Award nominee and a celebrated live performer, Jonita has shared the stage with the likes of Shawn Mendes, Dua Lipa, Post Malone, and Michael Bublé.
