While 82MAJOR might reference South Korea’s +82 area code, the group is quickly making a name for themselves on a global scale—and it’s one that deserves to be spotlighted. Since debuting in 2023, 82MAJOR has turned heads with a fresh, authentic sound that has fans asking, "Omg, have y’all heard of 82MAJOR?!" with every scroll on X.

With a group full of all-rounders, it is without a doubt, the hype they are receiving is deserved. From making their own songs to bringing the fun and chaotic Gen-Z energy to the K-pop world, 82MAJOR isn't conforming to the standards most would perceive from a K-pop group. Rather, they are building their own path and filling it with success along the way.
Mido Media had the amazing opportunity to catch up with all six members of 82MAJOR—SEONG IL, YE CHAN, SEONG MO, SEONG BIN, SEOK JOON, and DO GYUN—before their San Antonio concert to discuss all things on tour and KCON LA, and of course, making sure to give the group their well-deserved flowers.
Q: Okay, first things first—congrats on kicking off your first tour and being announced for your first KCON LA, all in the same week. That’s huge. Has it even sunk in yet or are y’all still like, “What is going on?!”
SEONG IL: Ever since we debuted, we kept saying we want to tour and that we are going to be able to do it one day. And now we are finally able to come to America, and it makes me really happy. This is a dream come true. I am very excited and happy to be able to go to KCON LA and spend more time with 82DE as well.
YE CHAN: I think everything has finally settled in. I mean going on tour like I think the first week or so was kinda like “oh wow this is our life now.” And then obviously KCON LA, I feel like there was nothing really to be surprised about besides the fact that we were going because we’ve already been to KCON Japan. And so, just going again, obviously it's an honor. But also because we have experienced it, it's nothing like 'oh what do we have to prepare? What do we have to do?' We kind of know what we have to do. So I think we’re just going to go and have a great time now.
Q: When you think back to your trainee days, what’s something you would tell your younger self now that you’ve debuted and are touring the world?
SEONG MO: I would tell my younger self to study English a lot because there's a lot of reasons for English to be used for.
YE CHAN: I think everyone can agree, but just practice more. Practice more and obviously focus more on what's important at the moment. Because when you’re practicing, you don’t realize that everything that you’re practicing right now is all going to become practical, and you will have to use it day to day. And so now that we’ve debuted, I've come to realize that, oh, I should have, you know, become more familiar with this, or worked out more.
Q: Since you’re doing 25 stops for your 82 SYNDROME tour, what’s something a fan has said or done that really stayed with you and still makes you smile?
SEOK JOON: Whenever someone tells us that they skipped work to be here.
SEONG BIN: Not just what the fans are saying but also like their reactions. For example, like the barking the fans do. That made a really good impression on me.
Q: As a day one fan, I’ve always loved your in-person events like busking and random dance play. If you had the chance to do something like that in LA during KCON, what would you want to do?
YE CHAN: You know how they do random play dances like outside of Venice Beach or something? Especially near KCON week, I just want to go and see those. See it or obviously join in and just have fun. But we will have to see. Because I've seen different seniors do it like ATEEZ. They’ve always gone and they join in or dance with fans. And I feel like that would be fun to do.
Q: You’re known for having really creative and well-thought-out music videos. Is there a concept or style you’ve been wanting to try next?
YE CHAN: You know, like Eminem’s “Slim Shady” music video. Like the comic book-esque kind of concept. I really wanted to do something like that. But obviously Eminem was a superhero, but instead I wanted us to be villains. It’s just something I thought about and thought it would be cool, but we will have to see.
SEONG MO: I want to act more. I like to showcase my acting skills a bit more.
Q: If one of your songs became the soundtrack to a movie, which one would it be and what kind of movie are we talking about?
SEONG MO: Some sort of sports film with the song “Choke.”
DO GYUN: “Sure Thing” for a romance film.
SEONG BIN: “Facetime” in an action comedy. Some kind of robbery-type action film. (Example: Oceans 11)
YE CHAN: “Heroes(영웅호걸)”— We literally thought about the film A Better Tomorrow while making that song. So if they ever make a remake or a reboot, I would love it if our song was on the soundtrack.
Q: Lastly, is there anything you’d like to say to our readers who might be discovering 82MAJOR for the first time?
YE CHAN: Hey, what's up!
SEONG IL: We hope fans find our performances cool, and we hope you join us at KCON LA.
