Starship Entertainment’s seven-member rookie K-pop group IDID, made up of leader JANG YONGHOON, KIM MINJAE, PARK WONBIN, CHU YOOCHAN, PARK SEONGHYEON, BAEK JUNHYUK, and JEONG SEMIN is back with their single album FLY!, a two-track project featuring title track “FLY!” and B-side “Attent!on.”

Released on May 27, FLY! is a follow-up to last year’s digital single “PUSH BACK.” It’s also the clearest and most authentic picture of IDID to date, exchanging the sharp edges of their earlier releases for a looser, more confident sound.

IDID has been building towards this moment since their debut EP I did it. came out in 2025. With “CHAN-RAN,” they brought a bright, upbeat atmosphere, while “PUSH BACK” and “STEP IT UP” pushed their image and sound further, sharpening it with grit and drive. FLY!, however, artfully combines the two. The new tone is lighter on its feet and more at ease, allowing the members to showcase a cooler side of themselves through their performance.

The members describe the color of this album as their most genuine, unadorned state, just as they are. JEONG SEMIN describes it as the color white, while PARK SEONGHYEON calls it a blank sheet of paper that’s full of possibilities.

This honest outlook shapes the album’s guiding message, “Flying high with ease, just as we are.” FLY! captures IDID in a lighter and more self-assured moment, moving forward without overthinking it.

For the visuals, IDID traveled to Okinawa, Japan, to film the music video for “FLY!,” shooting overseas for the first time. The trip highlighted a new level of chemistry and focus in the group, with the setting inspiring them to deliver their best work.

The title track “FLY!” is rooted in old-school hip-hop’s boom-bap groove, powered by a heavy rhythm, signature cowbell accents, and a bright, chant-driven chorus. Classic hip-hop textures sit alongside a modern, clean production style, and the message of surpassing limits comes through the group’s natural chemistry rather than any forced intensity.

Leading into “Attent!on,” the energy softens but stays just as engaging. Contrasting drum patterns and smooth synth lines create a lively yet gently swaying ambience, and the rhythmic, melodic flow lets each member’s boyish charm come through. The track first captured WITHIDs’ (IDID’s fandom) attention at IDID’s debut fan concert last April, and on record, it holds up as a softer, more fluid side of a group that has more up its sleeve.

The overall mood of FLY! can best be described as an unfiltered after-school energy that’s spontaneous and rooted in togetherness. Rather than presenting a polished image, the album leans into instinctive expressions and raw interaction. Each member’s individuality shines through in a team presence defined by playfulness, positivity, and connection.

Before the release, IDID shared the trailer film DIARY on May 11, giving fans a first look into the world of FLY! In it, the members hang out around the city, laid-back in their element, which is the vibe the album delivers.

Formed as Starship Entertainment’s first new boy group in five years, IDID debuted on September 15, 2025, through the survival show Debut’s Plan, which premiered in March 2025. As the newest launch from the label behind global K-pop groups like MONSTA X, WJSN, CRAVITY, IVE, and KiiiKiii, IDID drew worldwide attention as one of the most anticipated rookie acts in the industry.

The seven members have been stacking up wins since day one. In May, they took home the ‘Hot Trend Award’ at the 3rd Asia Star Entertainer Awards (ASEA 2026). Most recently, IDID won ‘Rookie of the Year’ at the 35th Seoul Music Awards alongside AHOF, ALPHA DRIVE ONE, and CLOSE YOUR EYES, adding a second trophy to their collection in the same year.

IDID also made headlines for their stage presence, with the whole group performing their own spin on BTS’s “FAKE LOVE,” reinterpreted in IDID’s distinct style. Meanwhile, members JANG YONGHOON, KIM MINJAE, and BAEK JUNHYUK joined artists from other groups for a collaborative stage of H.O.T.’s “We are the future,” offering a moment that bridged two generations of K-pop.

As IDID moves into their second year as a group, the members are clear about what they’re working towards. PARK WONBIN wants to show a more relaxed and mature side of himself to as many people as possible. JEONG SEMIN, who says he’s already finding the camera more naturally and feeling less stiff on stage, knows there’s still more to learn and plans to keep putting in the work.

Leader JANG YONGHOON’s goal for the team is simple but sincere. He wants to share their most honest emotions in hopes that listeners can relate, telling their true story through music that brings comfort and happiness to everyone. As for the long game, BAEK JUNHYUK has his eyes set on the Super Bowl halftime show, sharing his dream that one day IDID will headline it.

FLY! is out now across all major streaming platforms. Stream it here!
