An artist that never shies away from honesty and vulnerability, Korean-American singer-songwriter eaJs latest release “put it on me,” is a project about expressing one’s gratitude and fears to a loved one and an affirmative letter of comforting words that one might want to hear at times when the entire world feels bleak. Released on September 19, eaJ seamlessly blends alternative pop and R&B with layers of synths and stripped-down vocals that make the track feel even more personal to the listener. Think of it as a comforting phone call that you’re having with a long-distance friend, or a gentle reminder that love and care exist, even if it’s oceans away.

The lyrics depict the exhilarating moment where one feels comfortable opening up to someone they deeply care for. “'Cause of you I forget my past / Feels like I’ve been born again,” is a climactic point of the song that highlights the moment where all emotional barriers are let loose, and one realizes the ways in which they heal each other. If there was ever a song that best encapsulated the bond that eaJ shared with his fans (also known as “Jars”), “put it on me” would take the winning title.

Prior to its release, eaJ teased the song through his socials, including a special project he carried out for the fans where he took on the role of a friendly virtual therapist. He also shared moments from his festival run at Prambanan Jazz Festival in Indonesia earlier this year, where he met a longtime fan of his, Tasya, who inspired the track and is featured on the single artwork.

“‘put it on me’ is one of my favourite songs I’ve ever released. It reminds me a lot of my earlier releases,” he mentions.

Musically, the track is a testament to eaJ’s journey as a solo artist over the past five years, from his very first solo project, “pacman,” which now has garnered over 13 million views, as well as the pivotal role he played in his former band DAY6
