TOMORROW X TOGETHER Wraps Up the ‘The Star Chapter’ Saga with ‘The Star Chapter: TOGETHER,’ An Ode to Love and Togetherness

TOMORROW X TOGETHER (aka TXT) has finally returned with a much-anticipated comeback this month. The K-pop boy group’s latest studio album, The Star Chapter: TOGETHER, comes one year and nine months after The Name Chapter: FREEFALL, released in October 2023. The group’s comeback with The Star Chapter: TOGETHER marks the conclusion to The Star Chapter story that began in November 2024 with The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY

TXT’s The Star Chapter: TOGETHER opens with “Upside Down Kiss,” a song about devotion through the mess, even if the world turns upside down. The title is reminiscent of a certain superhero’s upside-down kiss with his lady love, doesn’t it? It sports a heady mix of 80s synth sounds paired with a grounding bass. The next track, doubling as the album’s title track, is “Beautiful Strangers.” The song packs a futuristic melody, channeling a tune that is similar to the group’s past releases. There is a calming yet strengthening narrative that talks about growing together with a person, despite the differences, as it is the differences that make them stronger.

For the first time since the group’s debut, each member—SOOBIN, YEONJUN, BEOMGYU, TAEHYUN, HUENINGKAI—has showcased a solo track in the album. Each member’s distinct versatility goes unnoticed as emotions of love, desire, and comfort are woven through their words and compositions.

YEONJUN co-wrote his solo track “Ghost Girl,” a song about a love so dangerous that one would be ready to fall for a ghost. His voice is raw and bold throughout the song, which lends extra depth to the heightened emotions. YUNGBLUD, a UK-based musician, also participated in writing and composing this track. Then comes SOOBIN’s “Sunday Driver,” a song that hums the comforting tunes of a mellow sunlit day. There is an easy-going feel to the song, complemented by SOOBIN’s breathy vocals that make the song such a joyous listen. The flavor is different compared to his previous renditions, which gives an edge to his versatility.

HUENINGKAI channels a sexy and sultry charm, paired with a stunning falsetto for his solo track “Dance With You.” BEOMGYU partook in producing his solo track “Take My Half,” a song about a desire for sharing meaningful time with a loved one. Finally, TAEHYUN’s “Bird of Night” is a track for those who seek comfort after navigating restless nights. He participated in writing and composition, delivering a soothing melody.

Concluding with “Song of the Stars,” the five members rejoin to deliver the album’s finale that is all about being together. The song’s cinematic composition is accompanied by a hopeful feeling driven by the alternating verses sung by each member.

One thing to note in this album is the limited duration of the songs. Most songs are under two minutes and 30 seconds. It has been a while since the ‘less than 3 minutes’ trend emerged in the K-pop industry. While some groups have managed to include tracks with longer durations, the trend of micro-tracks does not seem to go away anytime soon.
