HANABIE. Returns to Chicago with Explosive Live Set

Tokyo-based metalcore group HANABIE. is back on tour for the 2026 season. Closing out their March dates, the group filled the iconic House of Blues venue in downtown Chicago.
Fans packed in early, lining the barricade and overflowing into the balconies to see openers, Enterprise Earth and Nekrogoblikon. Energy and anticipation built quickly as both bands primed the crowd with back-to-back sets that couldn’t have been more different in tone, yet effective in setting the stage.
Once it was finally time for HANABIE. to take the stage, each member, one by one, ran out from the shadows, greeting their cheering fans: drummer Chika, bassist Hettsu, guitarist Matsuri, followed by frontwoman Yukina, who sent the crowd roaring as they began to kick off their set. Their unique blend of electronic elements and pop melodies immediately had the room headbanging along.
The setlist for the night never once lacked in momentum as each set transitioned from one crowd favorite to the next. Songs like “ICONIC” and “Spicy Queen” were the catalyst for crowdsurfing and mosh pits in the audience.

From the floor to the balcony, the entire venue stayed in constant motion. Fans at the barricade held their ground against the surge of energy circulating behind them. Even amongst the intensity, there was a strong sense of community within the crowd. Fans helped each other up, shared water, and looked out for one another as the night went on.
About halfway through the set, Yukina took that wholesome connection a step further. During a brief instrumental break, Yukina jumped down from the stage and made her way directly to the side of the barricade to high-five a young girl who, understandably, was overwhelmed and giddy with excitement to interact with the vocalist. Yukina continued to high-five fans on her way back down through the pit to the stage, taking small moments to interact with fans up close and personal.
Yukina’s stage presence was strong and confident as she effortlessly shifted between aggressive screams and bright, melodic vocals that cut through the group’s layered sound. Matsuri’s guitar skills possessed a sharp edge while Hettsu and Chika delivered rhythms that felt both tight and unrelenting. Together, the girls maintained their precision, matching the love and awe in the room.
As the night progressed, the energy didn't drop. Each moment was built on the last, creating a show that felt immersive and dynamic. HANABIE.’s ability to balance heavy breakdowns with light and playful components kept their performance engaging throughout the concert. The continuous shifts in sound and pacing kept the crowd on edge and never stagnant.
HANABIE. delivered a fun and lively performance that left their fans grinning from ear to ear and drenched in sweat. As the house lights flicked on and adrenaline began to fade, the band had fully proved why their live shows continue to resonate with worldwide audiences.
