EXO member and soloist Doh Kyung Soo (D.O.) is one of the most versatile artists in a true sense of the word. The singer is known for crafting songs that present a jovial mix of music that makes you dance and lyrics that make you reflect. With this recent comeback, D.O. presents his first studio album BLISS as life seen through a lens of mature yet kind understanding towards oneself. Let’s dive into his latest album BLISS, which was released on July 7, 2025.

The album starts with “Nobody Knows It,” a song infused with soft Latin beats that enclose D.O.’s breezy vocals. The song is all about giving yourself a much-needed break after spending time on work and chores. The time that you give yourself, doing things that you like, catching a break in any way you like, is a time that nobody would know and that is fine too! Next comes “Do you remember?,” an uplifting anthem about the time when the heart was strong and confident to dream. There is a bittersweet touch to the song as it is awash in not just periodic nostalgia but also the nostalgia of one’s old self. The third track, “Fit,” is about spending time with that special someone. The song is slightly different from the music that D.O.’s previous albums had, lending a fresh perspective to D.O.’s versatility when it comes to the R&B genre.

The fourth track “SING ALONG!” also serves as the title track of the album. It matches the jovial and eccentric mood that D.O.’s past title tracks have possessed. The track is all about embracing yourself, with all your quirks and perks. The music video features D.O. doing activities that draw everyone else’s attention. He sells the much-anticipated dream of many who wish to be out of the stringent work-life dynamics.

The next track is “5 Minutes,” which adds to the earlier themes presented in the songs. The song nudges the listener to take five minutes for themselves, to simply take a breath and relax themselves amidst the never-ending grind. These five minutes are a reminder of the beautiful things in life that are often sought but eventually forgotten. Then comes the track “I’ll Be There,” a soft ballad number that provides solace in spaces as light as a greeting. The song is an assurance that the person will be there in need.

As we turn to the B-side tracks in the album, there comes a moment of relaxed awareness of embracing life without losing yourself to a race against time that is in fashion these days. Living life like a clockwork of actions is something that takes away the beauty of experiencing various moments that truly make up a memorable journey.

Next, we have “Draw My Path,” a song that is a reminder and realization that you are your own backup. Even on the most days when you carry through the mindless tasks, or on days when you feel the strongest, you are the one who will forge the path ahead. The soft tunes envelope the emotions brilliantly as D.O. sings about an empowering realization. The following track, “Where You Were,” is a bittersweet track laced with nostalgia about a time with a loved one. The song can also be interpreted as looking at oneself in the past and being grateful for the kindness shown to oneself.

As the album comes to a conclusion, the ballads claim their spot gracefully. The penultimate track, “IN ANOTHER LIFE,” is a soft ballad expressing gratitude and admiration for the warm moments that were shared so far. The concluding track, “Love to Love U” is all about love that is real and honest. It is not made up of manufactured emotions that are so often televised and marketed. It is a love that brings joy and comfort, even on days when you just want to sit next to each other in silence.

D.O.’s album BLISS is a gift to those who might feel lost or scattered in their current phase of life. Sometimes the answer is right in front of us, or even known to us, but we end up abstaining from reaching out to it. Each track in the album is a gentle nudge to the listener to shift their focus to themselves and learn to appreciate themselves. We often take for granted those who are there for us, and that applies to our own mind & body, too. BLISS couldn’t have come at a better time than this. With the way the world is moving right now, it is increasingly pivotal not to lose focus on oneself. We ask for the bare minimum from those around us, so why not ask that of ourselves, too?
